  • After documenting and researching over 50,000 coaching interactions in the workplace, Bill Eckstrom shares life-altering, personal and professional development ideas through the introduction of the “Growth Rings.” The rings illustrate how dangerous it can be to remain in a state of comfort and how being in discomfort is the only way to sustain growth. You’ll be amazed at the world-changing outcomes discomfort can have on your life and the lives of others.

Bill Eckstrom is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, outdoorsman and father of three. With a passion deeply rooted in growth and development, Bill has always been fascinated by the role a coach has on the performance of individuals and teams. As a result, he founded the EcSell Institute whose sole focus is to educate, track and measure coaching effectiveness for leaders within organizations around the world. This has led to hundreds of keynotes, published articles and e-books created from the research and documentation of coaching interactions and outcomes. A spiritual Guru once put it this way... We only evolve Spiritually when we are in a space of "insecurity". Our sense of security will inhibit this process.
Basically a simple validation of what Bill is sharing with us here. And yes, it may seem counterintuitive with our cultural conditionings, but once we learn this lesson experientially, we might then embody a new found "Wisdom" and purpose in life. 🙏. Thank you Bill, In Lak' ech

So I understand his point about his daughter needing to learn to accept discomfort as a growing method, but children can easily misinterpret that, especially if they don't have a good emotional foundation set by authority figures in their lives. For example, it won't work to provide discomfort to make a child grow if that child has to deal with abuse at home. Of course, he was probably implying that, because it should be obvious to American society by now, but it could cause her to reject discomfort as a growth method in the future because of her bad experience with it in the past.
