  • Katie Thompson's TEDx lecture stems from an essay in which she discusses instant gratification in western culture and how it pertains to the dating application Tinder and our own individualistic ideology.

Katie Thompson is finishing her Bachelor's degree in Family Studies at BSU and has plans to enter Ball State's Counseling Psychology program in the fall.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I'd swipe right on Kaite. I can just picture her making me a grilled cheese with that pearl necklace on. And some high heels.

Quite annoying. Overly theatrical and fake. Sorry to be negative but just another waste of time tinder girl. Maybe she has become a woman in New ways.

Typical. Woman is able to do all the choosing and not risk rejection.

Treestump  Sorry to hear that. Thanks for your response. Social situations are difficult for many of us. I wish you all the best.

Michael Plitt  I've only been asked out once, in middle school, because of a bet.

You are picturing the traditionally pretty, make up ridden woman. I can only wear one type of outfit and cannot wear makeup because of one of my disabilities.

For some reason my body shape is also very masculine.

Treestump  OMG that is so untrue. A woman would face far less rejection. But kind of a moot point since guys are expected to approach the woman. The stats don't lie.

You are being rejected because of that attitude.
If I asked a random guy on a date I could almost guarantee you I would be rejected at least as much as you. That is life regardless of gender.

No one really cares about the collective good. Humans are essentially anti-social by nature. That's a fact. We only will ever do well in small groups. Social media is a failure. Clearly.
